IMMORTAL GAME

The name was given by Ph. Hirschfeld to a friendly game played in the annex of the London Tournament between Adolf Anderssen and Kieseritzky in 1851. Miguel Nadjorf also used Immortal Game for his brilliancy with Black against Glucksberg at Warsaw 1935.
Also used for the game  Akiba Rubinstein vs. Hersh Rotlevy, Lodz 1907;  Savielly Tartakower vs. Gaza Maroczy Tepliz-Schönau 1922 and Aron Nimzowitsch vs Sämisch, Copenhagen 1923.
Immortal was used for a losing game by Dr. Werner Lauterbach for the game Bogdan Sliwa vs. David Bronstein at Gotha 1957, for a draw by Hans Müller at Vienna 1922 for the game Alexander Alekhine vs. Richard Reti.
According to François Le Lionnais et Ernst Maget, Immortal is also given to a game where White sacrificed his two Rooks.
