FORSYTH NOTATION

A way of writing moves, invented by David Forsyth (1853-1909) from Scotland. Starting with the top rank of the board, the initial letter of the piece is put down from left to right.  The vacant squares are indicated by a figure giving their number and the end of each rank is indicated by a sloping stroke.  The White pieces are represented by capitals and the Black by lower case letters.
