Farago Paul (04.04.1886 – 01.12.1970)
Romanian chess composer and International Master for Chess Compositions (post-mortem 1976). Farago was an engineer and got the title of Romanian Honored Master of Sport. His first study was published at the age of thirteen and in 1936 he was awarded a gold medal at the 1936 Munich Olympiad, which placed him as one of the world’s best composers at that time. For a few decades he was the editor of the study section of the Romanian Chess Review and the magazine Magyar Sakkvilag. He was also the author of New Idea in Artistic Chess in Romanian which contains 150 studies for which he won sixteen first prizes.
