Edmondson Edmund Broadley Jr. (13.08.1920 – 21.10.1982)

Edmondson-Edmund-Broadley-JPresident of the United States Chess Federation from 1963 to 1966, Executive Director of the USCF from 1966 to 1977 and FIDE Arbiter.
He served as an officer, reaching the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, with the United States Air Force. A member of the FIDE Bureau from 1970 to 1977.
The Edmondson trophy goes to the winner of the National Open.

He negotiated on behalf of Bobby Fischer his participation in the world championship cycles 1970-1972. In 1969, he arranged the merger of Chess Life and Chess Review magazines to form Chess Life & Review.

He was appointed as one of the arbiters in the Karpov-Korchnoi championship match in 1978.
He suffered a heart attack while playing chess on the beach at Waikiki, Honolulu.
