Ottmar Weiss, (1860-28.04.1942), Austrian composer. born in the Czech Republic.
Alexander Alekhine (1892-24.03.1946), a Russian and French chess player and the fourth World Chess Champion. He is considered one of the greatest chess players ever.
Iivo Nei (1931), an Estonian International Master, a teacher, and coach of Boris Spassky.
Milorad Knezevic (1936-30.03.2005), a Serbian Grandmaster.
Katarina,  Jovanovic-Blagojevic (1943), Yugoslavian Woman GranYugoslavian was three times Yugoslav women’s champion.
Tomas Petrik (1980), a Slovakian Grandmaster, Slovak Champion in 2005 and 2006.
Alexander Grischuk (1983), a Russian Grandmaster and Russian Champion in 2009. The winner of the World Blitz Chess Championships of 2006, 2012 and 2015.

Clare Benedict (1870-1961), an American writer and chess patron who was living in Switzerland.
Bror Larsson (01.10.1907-1966), a Swedish chess composer.
Alexander Zaitsev (15.06.1935-1971), a Soviet Grandmaster who finished first equal with Lev Polugaevsky in the 1968-69 USSR championship.

CHESS EVENTS

1959 31.10 The 4th Candidates Tournament was organized in the cities of Bled, Zagreb and Belgrade, Yugoslavia. The new Soviet star Mikhail Tal of USSR won the tournament ahead of Keres. Robert Fischer of USA didn’t play as well as he had hoped, finishing only 6th. and lost to Tal 4-0.

WORLD EVENTS

1864 Nevada is admitted as the 36th U.S. state.

1922 Benito Mussolini is made Prime Minister of Italy
