Charles Moehle (1859-1898), an American player who was one of the operators of the Ajeeb.
Heinz Gerhart Gunderam (1904-1992), a German Master known for playing unorthodox chess openings.
Samuel Reshevsky (1911-04.04.1992), an American Grandmaster who was considered as a chess prodigy. He was an eight-time winner of the U.S. Chess Championship and one of the strongest world players from the mid-1930’s to late 1950’s.
Nicolai Pushkov (1946), a Russian Grandmaster who won the 2012 European Senior championship.
Tom Wedberg (1953), a Swedish Grandmaster who became the Swedish Champion in 2000.
Abraham Kupchik (25.03.1892-1970), an American Master born in France. At the 1935 Olympiad, he won the individual bronze medal and team gold medal.
Sarunas Sulskis (1972), a Lithuanian Grandmaster who won the Lithuanian Championship on five occasions.  Lithuania.
Baadur Jobava (1983), the best Georgian Grandmaster since a decade.
Ivan Cheparinov (1986), aBulgarian Grandmaster who won three times the Bulgarian championship then became Topalov’s second for many years.
Martyn Kravtsiv (1990), a Ukrainian Grandmaster who tied for first in the 2015 Ukrainian Chess Championship.
Julia Kochetkova (1981), a Slovakian Woman Grandmaster.

DEATHS

Max Euwe (20.05.1901-1981), a Dutch Grandmaster, mathematician, author, FIDE president and chess administrator. He was the fifth World Champion.

CHESS EVENTS

1965 Candidates Final Match in Tbilisi, Boris Spassky beat Mikhail Tal 7-4.
1988 The FIDE GA admitted the federations of Nepal and Vietnam as full members.
2001 In Moscow, 128 men and 64 women participated at the World Championships organized in a prestigious venue inside the Kremlin.

WORLD EVENTS

1789 A national Thanksgiving Day is observed in the United States as proclaimed by President George Washington at the request of Congress.
1863 United States President Abraham Lincoln proclaims November 26 as a national Thanksgiving Day, to be celebrated annually on the final Thursday of November. (Since 1941, it has been on the fourth Thursday.)
1917 The National Hockey League is formed, with the Montreal Canadiens, Montreal Wanderers, Ottawa Senators, Quebec Bulldogs, and Toronto Arenas as its first teams.
1918 The Montenegran Podgorica Assembly votes for a “union of the people”, declaring assimilation into the Kingdom of Serbia.

1944 World War II: A German V-2 rocket hits a Woolworth’s shop in London, United Kingdom, killing 168 people.

2000 George W. Bush is certified the winner of Florida’s electoral votes by Katherine Harris, going on to win the United States presidential election, despite losing in the national popular vote.
