Anders Gideon Tom Stalberg (1908-26.05. 1967), a Swedish grandmaster ranked among the best 10 in the world around 1950 who was the chief arbiter of five World Championship Finals from 1957 till 1963.
Stanimir Nikolic (1935), a Serbian Grandmaster.
Fridrik Olafsson (1935), Icelandic Grandmaster and the 4th President of FIDE. He left chess in 1982 to work in local politic.
Vladimir Yurkov (1936-22.04.2007), a Russian player, an Honored Coach of the USSR who was coaching Balashov, Razuvaev, A.Sokolov and A. Kushnir.
Jean-Marc Degraeve (1971), a French Grandmaster who was the French U20 Champion in 1983.
Nikola Djukic (1983), a Montenegrin Grandmaster who is seven times the winner of the Montenegro chess championship.
Yuriy Kuzubov (1990), a Ukrainian Grandmaster and Ukrainian champion in 2014. He became Grandmaster at the age of 14 years, 7 months, 12 days in 2004.

CHESS EVENTS

1880. At the 5th American Chess Congress, New York, George Henry Mackenzie shared the first place with James Grundy. The Congress was the 1st to have a tie and playoff for an American title.
2002 In Moscow,  the 18-year-old Ruslan Ponomariov of Ukraine beat his countryman Vassily Ivanchuk 4½-2½ and became the 16th and the youngest World Champion in the chess history.
