1983 At the Acorn Candidates World Championship Semi-Finals in London, G. Kasparov (USSR) beat V. Korchnoi SUI (7-4). At the same event, V. Smyslov (USSR) beat Z. Ribli (HUN) 6½4½.
1987 In Sevilla at the World Chess Championship, Garry Kasparov retained his World Championship title by winning the last game (24) and leveling the score at 12-12.
2011 In Turkey, China won the Women’s World Chess Team Championship ahead of Russia and Georgia.
