1922 The London tournament ended with the victory of the World Champion JR Capablanca. Capablanca proposed the “London rules” – a set of 21 rules which became the first “law” for the organizing of the championship matches.
1950 President Tito of Yugoslavia opened the Olympiad in Dubrovnik, Yugoslavia. It was the first Olympiad since 1939. Due to political questions, all the other Eastern European countries decided to boycott the festival. Sixteen teams took part, so no preliminaries were held.
