Cheron André (25.09.1895 – 12.09.1980)
French player, analyst, and composer. International Master for Chess Composition honoris causa (1959) and International Judge for Chess Composition (1957).
French Champion in 1926, 1927 and 1929. A participant in the 1927 Olympiad. He was living for many years in Switzerland for health reasons.
Cheron is remembered for studies of end-games published in his four volumes in few languages: Lehr und Handbuch der Endspiele (1952-1970).
Author of ‘Les Echecs Artistiques’ (1934), ‘Miniatures Strategiques Française’ (1936) and ‘Le Joueur d’échecs au pays des merveilles’ (published in 1982). He was also a columnist at Le Temps de Paris and Le Journal de Genève.
