Bonham Reginald Walter (31.01.1906 – 16.03.1984)
English Grand Master of Correspondence Chess for Blind, Blind World Champion in 1958 and Correspondence Blind World Champion in 1957, 1959, 1961, 1963 (joint) and in 1966. Teacher of mathematics for blind.
He was one of the founders of the Braille Chess Association in 1951 and the Braille Chess Magazine. Bonham also had many victories against
Bonham also had many victories against sighted competitors. He won the Hastings Reserve Tournament in 1931, the Birmingham Tournament on three consecutive occasions. On six occasions he competed in the British Chess Championship where his best result was the ninth place. Bonham was awarded an MBE for his services to the Blind especially in chess.
