Bolbochan Julio (10.03.1920 – 28.06.1996)

Bolbochan JArgentine Grandmaster (1977) and coach. Argentine Champion in 1946 and 1948, he shared first place in the South American Championship in 1951, a title he repeated in 1960. The last part of his life he spent it in the Venezuela teaching chess. There, he was awarded the Grand Cordon Order of Venezuela in recognition of his 20 years of public service teaching chess at the Simon Bolivar University.

A participant in 6 Olympiads during the period of 1950 and 1966. In 1950, he was awarded a gold medal for the best score on board 2 with 11½ out of 14.

In 1954, he participated in the match USSR-Argentina where he drew two games with Paul Keres on board two.
He won two FIDE Zonal tournaments in  Mar del Plata in 1951 and in Rio de Janeiro in 1961. He won twice the Open of Mar del Plata in 1952 and in 1956 when he shared 1st-2nd place. He won also Sao Paulo in 1960 and Rio de Janeiro (shared) in 1939.
