PRAGUE

The capital of the Czech Republic. The first international tournament was held in 1909 with the victory of Duras, but the city hosted also the Tournament of Nations in 1930 and some important Congresses in 1931 won by Stolz, 1937 by Keres, in 1942 and 1943, with the victory of the World Champion Alekhine, 1946 and the victory of Najdorf, and more recently in 2002 with the victory of Anand.
