OAKHAM

The Oakham School Invitation Tournament ran from 1984 to 1993. This event, a Swiss System which included some of the best world juniors mixed with several (adults) Grandmasters, was created to celebrate the four hundredth anniversary of the school. The events were sponsored by the Jerwood Foundation and was run by the British Chess Federation.

The winners were: 1984 Niaz Murshed, 1986 Robert Kuczynski, 1988 David Howell, 1990 Ilan Manor, 1992 Alexei Shirov, 1993 (RR) Vlad Tkachiev.
