LEIPZIG

Former city of East Germany, now Germany, which hosted the first and ninth German Congresses in 1879 and 1894, the 1877 Festival and Tournament, some matches with Adolf Anderssen, Louis Paulsen, Em. Lasker or Jacques Mieses, the 1960 Olympiad and the Mitropa Cup in 2002.

Leipzig Kongress 1877

A tournament was organized to honor Adolf Anderssen. The tournament was won by Paulsen a half point ahead of the guests of honour Anderssen and Zukertort.
