German city. For its 50^th anniversary, the local club organized a strong International tournament in 1977 where Anatoly Karpov was the winner with 12/15 ahead of Jan Timman 10 and Semyon Furman 9. In 1980 the city hosted the World Championship Quarterfinal Match between Rober Huebner and Andrach Adorjan (5½-4½).
