Bareev Evgeny (21.11.1966)

Bareev-EvgenyRussian- Canadian Grandmaster (1989).  Bareev was World Under-16 champion in 1982. USSR Champion in 1990, Russian Champion 1995. In 1992, he graduated from the Moscow Institute of Physical Culture.

Best results:  Winner or shared first at Guayaquil in 1982, Kharkov 1985, Budapest 1988, Trnava and Moscow 1989. Dortmund Open 1990, Moscow GMA 1990, Marseilles 1990, Hastings in 1991, 1992 ad 1993, Pardubice 1994, Leon 1995, Belgrade 1996, Vienna Open 1996, Wijk aan Zee 2002, Enghien 2003 and 2005, Saint Petersburg 2009, Moscow Open 2010 and the Kitchener Masters (CAN) 2015. He was the finalist of the World Cup 2000, where he lost to Viswanathan Anand. 

Bareev played for the national team (from 1990 until 1998 and came back in 2005) with which he won nearly all world team competitions.

Coach of Vladimir Kramnik when Vladimir he beat Garry Kasparov for the Braingames World Championship in 2000 and drew with Peter Leko at the Classical World Championship in 2004. He coached also Le Quang Liem. From 2010 to 2011, he was the head coach of the Russian men’s chess team. Between 2010 and 2014, Bareev was the head coach of Russia’s Junior’s, Men’s and Women’s national teams.

A member of the top 10 highest world rated player since 1991, in 2001 Bareev reached the rating of 2680 which made him the fourth in the World. In 2015, he moved to Toronto where he is coaching.
