Barczay Laszlo (21.05.1936-07.04.2016)
Hungarian Grandmaster (1967). International Correspondence Grandmaster (1979). A Russian teacher, journalist and editor of the magazine Magyar Sakkelet from 1972 to 1976.
A member of the Hungarian team, he participated in the 1966 Olympiad, then twice in the European Team Championship.
Best results: Shalgotarjan Astalosh Memorial, 1967, 1-3rd; Hungarian championship, 2-3rd; Polanica-Zdroj in 1969, 1st; Bajmok in 1978, 1st; Decin in 1978, 1st; Gradetz-Kralove 1979, 1st and Trenczynkie Cieplice in 1981, 1st; Astor, 1st. Winner of the Vidmar Memorial Correspondence Tournament 1975-1979.
Peak rating: 2475 in 1976.
