Balogh Dr. János (10.09.1892 – 12.09.1980)
Hungarian player who lived in Romania. Romanian Champion in 1930.
He participated in the Olympiads of 1928, 1930 and 1931. He won team bronze medal at Budapest 1926, team gold and individual bronze medals at Munich 1936.
Also a strong International Master Correspondence player (1953) he won the first Wiener Schachzeitung Tournament in 1927-29 and finished second in the 1928-30 event. Also, Balogh finished 8th in the World Chess Correspondence Championship II Final (1956-1959) with 6 and a half points of a possible 14; 9th in III Final (1959-1962) with 3 and a half out of possible 9 points.
