Antoshin Vladimir Sergeevich (14.05.1929-13.05 1994)

Antoshin-Vladimir-SergeevicRussian Grandmaster (1963). Chief coach of the men’s team of the USSR. USSR Correspondence Champion in 1960.

Was a participant in five USSR Championships, the best result was shown in 1967- 7th place. A member of the team which won the 1955 and 1956 World Student Championships.

Best results: Ulan-Bator, 3rd; Kinbaum 1958, 2nd;  Moscow 1960, 5th; Sochi 1963, 4th; Baku 1964, 1-2nd; Ulan-Bator 1965, 1st;  Venice 1966, 2nd; Zinnowitz 1966, 1st; Havana 1968, 4th; Sarajevo 1970 3rd; Frunze 1979, 2nd.

He was a noted opening theorist and has opening variations in the Philidor and Dutch named after him.
