Lahno Kateryna (27.12.1989)

LahnoRussian Grandmaster (2007) and Women’s Grandmaster (2003) born in Ukraine, the youngest Women Grandmaster of chess history.

Women’s World Blitz Champion 2010, 2018 and 2019. Women’s World Rapid Champion in 2014, European Women’s Champion in 2005 and 2008, World Girls U10 and U14 Champion in 1999 and 2001.

At the age of 12 years and 4 months, she was the second world best Girls U20 rated.

Best results: Pushko Memorial UKR 2002, 1st; Kramatorsk 2003, 1st; Donetsk 2003, 2nd; Hastings  2004, 7th; North Ural Cup 2006; Rostov Women Grand Prix 2011, 2nd. In a match organized in India in 2006, she beat P. Negi 11-7.

A participant in the Women’ World Championship in many occasions, in November 2018, Lagno lost to world champion Ju Wenjun in the finals of the Women’s World Championship. A participant in the Women’s’ Olympiads since 2004, she collected a few teams and individual gold medals.

Lahno was married to the French Grandmaster Robert Fontaine.
