Kunte Abhijit (03.03.1977)

Indian Grandmaster. Kunte was Indian Champion in 1997 and 2000, British Champion in 2003 (the last foreigner according to new regulations) and Commonwealth Champion in 2003. Winner of a gold medal at the Asian Junior Championships in 1997.

Best results: Blackpool GM 2003, 1^st; Kolkata Open 2004, 1^st; Canadian Open 2006, 1^st; Mumbai Mayor’s Cup 2008, 1-9^th; Sydney Open 2009, 1-4^th. Also Hastings 2003, 4^th; Quebec Open 2007, 2-6^thand 2007 Asian Championship, 3-7^th.

Kunte has been a regular member of the national team between 2000 and 2008. He has participated in four Olympiads and was a participant in the 2007 and 2009 World Cups.

Kunte is also a handy cricket player.  Best ELO: 2568 in 2001.
