Garcia Martinez Silvino (04.06.1944)

Cuban International Grandmaster (1976), he became the first Cuban to earn the FIDE Grandmaster title in 1975. Graduate in Psychology and Sport. He has won the Cuban national championship four times in 1968, 1970, 1973 and 1980.
A three times gold medalist at the Central American Team Championship

Best results: Pan-American tournament 1968, 1st;  and equal 3rd at Capablanca Memorial, Cienfuegos 1973, 3rd; Capablanca Memorial 1985, 2nd.

The founder of IESA Institute for Chess in South America in 1993.

A member of the national team from 1972 until 1986. President and delegate of the Cuban chess federation for many years.
