Dzindzichashvili Roman Yakovlevich (05.05.1944)
American Grandmaster (1977) born in Georgia, who played in two USSR Championships before emigrating to Israel in 1976 then to the USA. Became He won Hastings 1977-78 and shared third in 1978, his best result before to immigrate to U.S. in 1980. He won the U.S. title twice (in 1983, tied with GM Walter Browne and GM Larry Christiansen; and 1989, tied with Yasser Seirawan and Stuart Rachels). Won New York State Champion in 1980. and the Church US Grand Prix in 1980. A participant to the 1976 and 1978 Olympiads for Israel and in 1982 with the US where the team collected the bronze. Dzhindzhichashvili is a cofounder of the chess.net chess server, and a popular commentator. As a trainer, he has worked with a number of the world’s top players and rising juniors, including GM Gata Kamsky. He is also the host and author of the Roman Forum instructional chess video series.
