Chinese Grandmaster (2009). Chinese Champion in 2009 (at 16 years old), in 2011 and 2012. World Boys U10 vice-champion in 2002 and World Boys U14 vice-champion in 2004. He was the world best blitz ranked player in October 2016. Ding was undefeated in classical chess from August 2017 to November 2018, recording 29 victories and 71 draws. This 100-game unbeaten streak is the longest in top-level chess history.

A member of the national team since 2011, in 2014, he was a member of the team which won the 2014 and 2018 Chess Olympiad and the 2015 World Team Championship.
Peak rating: 2816 in 2018, he was the third best-ranked player in the world in 2019.
