Bluvshtein-MarkCanadian Grandmaster (2004) born in Russia. Student in Chemistry.

Bluvshtein was the Canadian youngest Grandmaster having reached the title at the age of 16. He was voted “Canadian Chess Player of the 2004 Year”. World U14 co-Champion 2002 and 3rd in the World U18 in 2002. Israeli U10 Champion in 1998 and U12 Champion in 1999. Canadian U18 Champion in 2005. American Continental vice champion in 2011.

A participant in the 2002, 2004, 2006 and 2010 Olympiads. Mark was coached by Dimitri Tyomkin and Alexander Huzman.

Bluvshtein graduated from York University in Toronto, majoring in Science and Technology Studies.

On October 2011 Mark announced his retirement… It’s time to open a new chapter in life and I look forward to it. I won’t forget where I came from, but it’s time for me to leave chess and pursue other goals. I don’t plan to play chess in the near future.
