Barua-DibyenduIndian Grandmaster (1991), who has created a sensation by beating Viktor Korchnoi at 16 in London. Indian Zone winner in 1993, 1995 and 1999. The first Indian player to win a Gold medal in the Olympiad. Indian Champion in 1983, 1998 and 2001.

A participant in the Olympiads from 1988 till 2000 and in the World ChampionIships of 1997, 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2004.

Barua began the Dibyedu Barua Chess Academy in Kolkata in September 2005 entirely on his own resources at a rented apartment. Initially, he had only 22 students which have now grown into over 200 trainees.
