AegonA Man versus Machine team event held at The Hague between 1986 and 1997 sponsored by the Dutch insurance company Aegon. A group of as many 50 humans of differing strengths played the best computers of the time in a Swiss tournament (computers can only be matched against humans and vice versa). This was discontinued after the 12th edition in 1997. In 1996, the computer team won 162.5 to 137.5 for the first time, though the top scorer was Yasser Seirawan with 100%. In 1997 the computer team defeated the human with 151.5 to 148.5 with Israeli grandmaster Yona Kosashvili scoring last with 100%. The best scorers were: 1986 Frederik Van der Vliet 6/7, 1987 Martin Voorn 6/6, 1988 Alexander Jongsma 6/6, 1989 Van den Berd and Frederik Van der Vliet 5/6, 1990 Jeroen Piket and Blockhuis 5/6 , 1991 John Van der Wiel 6/6, 1992 David Bronstein 6/5, 1993 David Bronstein and John Nunn 5½/6, 1994 Larry Christiansen and John Nunn 5½-6, 1995 John Van der Wiel 5½/6, 1996 Yasser Seirawan 6/6, 1997 Yona Kosashvili 6/6.
