DEATHS

Fritz Carl Englund, (22.11.1871-1933), Swedish Master. His name is associated with the opening 1. d4 e5 tested for the first time in 1932.
George Hume  (16-12-1862-1936), a British composer.

CHESS EVENT

E. Lasker (+10=5-2) defeated W. Steinitz, 12.5-4.5 in Moscow to win the World Chess Championship.
