Lewis-WilliamOne of the strongest chess players of England at the beginning of the nineteenth century. The pupil of Jacob Sarratt, and the teacher of Alexander McDonnell and George Walker, he published a series of studies devoted to Gambits.

Author of Elements of the Game of Chess (1822) and A Series of Progressive Lessons on the Game of Chess (1831).
