Herbstman Alexander Iosipovich (10.04.1900 – 22.05.1982)

Soviet endgame study composer, International Judge for Chess Compositions (1956) and International Master for Chess Compositions (1959). In 1979 he moved to Italy and later died in Sweden. During his life he published over 300 studies with 24 got the first prize. Author of Sovietsky Shakhmaty Etyud (1955), Izbrannye shakhmaty etyudy (1964) which contains 120 of his studies.
