Konstantinopolsky Alexander Markovich (19.01.1909-21.09.1990)

Konstantinopolsky-AlexanderUkrainian International Master (1950), Correspondence International Master (1966) and Honorary Grandmaster (1983).

Konstantinopolsky played in six USSR Championships between 1937 and 1952 and he was the Champion of Kiev from 1932 to 1936.  His best result the second place in the 1937 USSR Championship, even though he also won the first USSR Correspondence Championship in 1948-1951.

Konstantinopolsky was highly respected as a trainer and he worked with David Bronstein in the period leading up to Bronstein’s challenge for the World Championship.  For many years he was the principal trainer of Isaac Lipnitsky and also of Soviet women players.
