Filipowicz Andrzej (13.05.1938)

filipowicz-2016Polish International Master (1975), International Arbiter (1984) and Journalist.  Filipowicz was the Representative from Poland to FIDE for twenty-six FIDE Congresses from 1977, Chairman of the Qualification Commission of FIDE.

He participated in eighteen national championships from 1959-1980 and nineteen Olympiads; six times as a member of the Polish team from 1960-1972 and ten times as the captain.
The Chief Arbiter at the Classical World Championship Garry Kasparov vs. Vladimir Kramnik in 2000, the 2004 World Championship Vladimir Kramnik vs. Peter Leko  and Viswanathan Anand vs.Carlsen 2014.
Deputy Chief Arbiter at the FIDE Championship 1997, World Championship final match Anatoly Karpov vs. Viswanathan Anand in Lausanne 1998, Women’s World Championship match (Xie Jun vs. Alisa Galliamova) in Shenyang 1999 and Candidates’ matches in 2007.

The Author of Zloto dla Polski (Gold for Poland), The 1930 Chess Olympiad in Hamburg and edited Warsaw 2004. The main editor of the magazine Szachy and later Szachista.
