WORLD SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP
The championship was organized for the first time in 1991 at the request of the German Chess Federation. The participants are to be over 60 for the men and over 50 for the women. Since 2014, the championship played in 11 rounds of Swiss system, is divided in two sections: +50 and +65. This annual tournament have seen former World Championship Candidates Smyslov, Korchnoi and Taimanov crowned World Champions.
