The third place in 1976 was his best result in the Hungarian Championships. A member of the national team which won the gold at the 1978 Olympiads.

Best results: won or shared first at Vrnjacka Banja 1975, Budapest 1976, Subotica 1978, Bagneux 1978, Kiel, Zalaegerszeg, Esbjerg and Kilonia 1979.

Peak rating: 2505 in 1978.
