German problemist, for many the father of German chess problemist. Art critic and one of the greatest connoisseurs of European art at that time.

Director of Research on Art of Monaco. he was a specialist in multimovers but also OTB player. He was a collaborator of the German newspaper Münchener Nachrichten.
